Mohun Bagan backs on winning track extingiushing Chirag

After a dream run of 10 win at a row, Mohun Bagan lost last 4 games. But Mohun Bagan comes once again in a winning track. Today Mohun Bagan won the crucial match against Chirag United by 2 goals to 1.Both the team started in a bit defensive manner. Both the team created few chances but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunities. In the dying stage of 1^st half the most awaited time came for Bagan. It was a Marcos free-kick; Bhaichung took a header which Arnab, a Chirag defender deflected goal wards. Bhaichung claimed the goal but was considered as own goal. But in match refry report it was awarded to Bhaichung.

In the 2^nd half Mohun Bagan started to play attacking football. In 78^th minute Snehasish scored for Chirag totally against the run of play. But Mohun Bagan responded immediately with a goal. It was again from Marcos’ free-kick and Bhaichung the man to score with a beautiful header. Few minutes later Bhaichung scored another goal with a beautiful header but was cancelled by the linesman. The reason wasn’t clear why the goal was not allowed, but it looked clear to commentator also.

But the most important 3 points in now in the bag. Now Mohun Bagan should look forward to make another 5 win in a row to keep pressure on the current league leader Churchill Brothers.

Mohun Bagan gave Al-Karamah a tough fight in AFC cup

Mohun Bagan went to Syria with lots of difficulties. The main striker Barreto didn’t fly with the team due to back injury. The temperature of Syria was also against of Mohun Bagan. But still Mohun Bagan managed to play a beautiful game against Al-Karamah, the 2006 AFC champions league finalist and having nine players of the Syrian national team.Though Mohun Bagan lost the game by 1-0 but Bagan players gave the home site a tough fight to remember. The result might have gone in other way if Marcos didn’t miss the penalty at 43^rd minute while Ishfaq was trapped inside the box. In the 1^st half Mohun Bagan was in the upper hand. Tulunga and Bhaichung got few chance but could not capitalize on that. In the 2^nd half Al-Karamah scored a goal in 60^th minute.Then Mohun Bagan also got few chance but the Syrian team defended well to resist the attack.

It was really a booster for team Mohun Bagan to regain the team spirit. If Mohun Bagan continues to play in this style it seems that the I- League is again going to come in Mohun Bagan tent.

It was really a vital match for Bagan to win the I-League. But Mohun Bagan lost the match to Churchill Brothers unfortunately. Mohun Bagan started the match brilliantly. Bagan got the 1^st goal in 27^th minute when Barreto scored a beautiful goal; Tulunga sent a beautiful cross, Barreto beautifully controlled the ball by chest and then place the ball beautifully back of the net dodging the goalkeeper. Then at the injury time of the 1^st half Mohun Bagan conceded a goal by a header of Odafa from a corner kick. Then in the second half Mohun Bagan was not found in his own form. Bagan conceded the 2^nd goal through  Kalu. Meanwhile Barreto got an injury and had to leave the field. This was the turning point of the match. Then Churchill scored the 3^rd and final goal of the match;its Kalu again. Nothing went right in this match for Mohun Bagan except the beautiful goal scored by Barreto.

There is still a hope for Bagan to win the I-League but will have to  wait for result of  the other games also. Now Mohun Bagan have to win all of the rest matches to win the I-League.

Winning streak ends for Bagan after 10 match!!

Finally the winning streak of Mohun Bagan comes to an end after 10 consecutive win in a disappoint manner. Mohun Bagan lost this game by 3 goals to nil. But Mohun Bagan started the match in great rhythm.In the first 20 minutes the control was totally in the hand of Bagan. In this time Mohun Bagan got few chance but could not capitalize the opportunities. Bhaichung got a header going but was narrowly missed. No sooner than later Barreto took a fantastic header but opponent goal keeper made a beautiful save. Meanwhile Nabi got the first goal for the opponent team against the run of play by a corner from Renedy. When Mohun Bagan was trying to regain the ball possession E.benbal scored the 2^nd goal; again it’s a Nabi header from a Renedy free-kick.

In the 2^nd half Mohun Bagan conceded one more goal by Sunil. Bhaichung was not given  a penalty kick when he was clearly trapped within the box.

But it was just a bad day in office. We are still in a strong positing to win the I-League just behind Sporting by 1 points. Now our focus should be on the the Churchill match. The main concern of our team is that Bhaichung will miss the next match due to second yellow card.

Mohun Bagan had beaten each team in this season except Mohammedan Sporting. Finally Bagan won the match against them. Mohun Bagan is improving its record match by match. Today Bagan made it perfect 10 winning all of last 10 games in I-League. It was a tough battle; one team was trying to maintain the top position of the table and the other was trying to avoid relegation. Mohun Bagan won the match by one goal to nil. The only goal scored in the 15^th minute of the match by James Shing who took a shot and the ball deflected towards goal. Ishfaq missed the easiest opportunity to score when he was given a beautiful pass from Barreto; only he was to do to place the ball in the net but he took the shot straight to the goalkeeper. In the 2^nd half Mohun Bagan started in a bit defensive node. Meanwhile Mohammedan got few chances but failed to capitalize on that. Barreto took a long ranger but was blocked by the defender.

Today was the 41st birth day for Karim Bencherifa(Head coach of Mohun Bagan) who had got his best gift of birthday. The next match was against rival club East Bengal. Mohun Bagan didn’t lose the last 9 games against tem in salt lake. So it’s the time to make another perfect 10.

Mohun Bagan now climbed upto the 1st position beating Sporting Club the Goa 1-0.It was the the 9 consecutive win for Bagan. In the 1st half Mohun Bagan started in a little watch and do manner. Mohun Bagan was trying to hold as much possession as they can. In the closing stage of the 1st half a beautiful header of Bhaichung denied by the woodwork and the goalkeeper send it outside behind from the goal line;it was clearly crossed the line. In the 2nd half Mohun Bagan started to play more attacking foot ball.In the early stage of 2nd half Mohun Bagan was refused from a sure penalty when the ball hit the arm of a Sporting defender.Then Sporting was surprisingly escaped when two consecutive header from Habibur and Bhaichung was cleared from goal line on a same move.But no sooner than latter Bhaichung awarded Mohun bBagan the most desired goal;from a Lalkamal corner marcos send it towards the 6 yards box; Barreto mistimed his back volley; ball went to Bhaichung who made no mistake to send the ball back of the net.It was really a fantastic goal because Bhai scored the goal nearly facing his own goal i.e he scored the goal turning nearly 180 degree. This win helps Mohun Bagan to secure the 1st position. But Mohun Bagan has to hold on the position.So it is looking that the I-League is again coming in Kolkata after a long interval of 4 years.

Magical Barreto;Mohun Bagan beats Air India 2-1

Again Barreto magic did it for Mohun Bagan. Mohunbagan started the match in a must win situation and won it at the end. But Mohunbagan conceded the early goal in the 1st half when Air India opened the defense by one touch movement. Subhas Shing scored for Air India. Then Bagan started to play attacking & pressing football and Air India was forced to increase their man in defense. But the team who has a player like Barreto shouldn’t worry about any defense. The equalizer came in the 45th minute of the match. From a corner kick of Marcos, Barreto just flicked the ball towards the net by a beautiful header. In the second half Mohunbagan was looking more attacking. In 70th minute of the match Ishfaq made a beautiful run from the middle of the field and finally passed it towards Barreto, who made a unbelievable finish from almost 15 degree angle. In 90th minute Air India midfielder Uttam Shing was sent of due to 2nd yellow card.
Now the all eyes set for the match on 6th Feb hold between Mohunbagan and Sporting Club The Goa the top two teams in the I-League.
